Dr. Scott Hassell’s practice at North Dallas Urology is dedicated to multiple Urologic issues. Currently the most common diagnoses treated in his practice include erectile dysfunction, testosterone deficiency, benign prostate hyperplasia, prostate cancer and family planning/vasectomy for men; pelvic support, stress incontinence, and interstitial cystitis for women; and mixed incontinence managed with neuromodulation or Botox for both men and women. All urological issues are accepted and can be managed expertly in the practice.

Education & Training
Dr. Hassell is a native Texan. He was born in the panhandle in Dumas and spent most of his life in Fort Worth before attending The University of Texas, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology with Honors in 1980. He attended The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas from 1980-1984, then accepted a 6- year residency position in General Surgery and Urology at The University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston from 1984-1990. This included 4 years at Hermann Hospital with flight surgeon experience with Life-Flight under Dr. Red Duke, and 2 years at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center under Chairman Andrew von Eschenbach and Professors Douglas E. Johnson, David Swanson, and Richard Babaian. Dr. Hassell spent a year in practice in Fort Worth with The Urology Clinic before returning to Dallas in 1991 as a solo practitioner in Urology. In 1999 Dr. Hassell joined North Dallas Urology Associates as a Partner, and has since practiced in Dallas, Richardson, Plano, and Frisco.
To improve expertise in Prosthetic Urology, Dr. Hassell has participated in surgical hands-on training seminars with Dr. Paul Perito of Perito Urology in Miami. Dr. Perito is currently the largest volume active implanter of penile prosthetics.
Board-Certification
Dr. Hassell is a Diplomate of the American Board of Urology. After passing oral and written examinations following residency, he has re-certified twice and has an active certificate through 2024.
Clinical Research
He participated in clinical research with Dr. Richard Babaian at M.D. Anderson Cancer investigating localized prostate cancer.
Personal
Dr. Hassell is married with three children ranging from 26 to 16. The family resides in Plano.
Dr. Hassell is a member of the Texas Medical Association, Dallas County Medical Society, American Urological Association, and American Association of Clinical Urologists.
He is also a member of Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society, Alpha of Texas at the University of Texas at Austin.
Dr. Hassell has been voted “D Magazine Best Doctors in Collin County”, and “Texas Monthly Super Doctors”.
